Terms and conditions
The booker accepts these terms on behalf of all fellow members.
These terms and conditions may be amended from time to time and apply to all services provided by us.
- General Terms and Conditions
1.1 iyou's clients accept that participation in the trip/activity is at their own risk.
1.2 Participants must be fit and healthy enough to take part in the activities they are taking part in (most of the outdoor activities we offer are not suitable for participants with mobility problems). They must be dressed and equipped appropriately for the weather.
1.3 iyou shall not be liable for any loss, accident, injury or illness occurring during the tour. iyou shall also not be liable for any injury or accident caused by the Client's own behavior or failure to comply with the instructions of the tour guide.
1.4 In the event of any change in the tour schedule due to weather, strikes or any other force majeure, this shall also apply.
1.5 The tour operator reserves the right to change the route, itinerary and schedule if necessary. This may occur due to bad weather, road conditions or any other unforeseen reasons. All travelers are advised to take out comprehensive travel insurance to minimize possible losses due to unforeseen circumstances during the trip.
- Booking and payment
2.1 By completing a booking through our website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to the following terms and conditions.
2.2 iyou is a travel agency offering day trips, multi-day trips and customized trips to Iceland. Bookings can be made directly through the iyou website and/or any other website where iyou offers its services.
2.3 If you have any problems making a booking using the iyou website at www.iyou.is, please contact our customer service team at iyou@iyou.is.
2.4 It is important that you complete and/or provide all necessary information when booking your trip. Upon completion of your booking, you will receive a booking confirmation email containing your booking number and voucher for the services booked. The voucher will serve as your proof of payment and should be brought with you on the day of your trip.
2.5 It is your responsibility to ensure that all information on the confirmation voucher is correct. In the event of any discrepancies, such as incorrect booking dates and/or incorrect number of participants, please contact us immediately as it may not be possible to make any changes to the booking closer to the departure date.
2.6 iyou has the right to exclude you from the tour if the required documents are not presented and/or signed upon arrival of the tour.
2.7 iyou is not responsible for errors made during the booking process.
- prices
3.1 Please note that all prices for services provided by iyou are in Icelandic Krona (ISK). iyou is not responsible for exchange rate fluctuations and/or handling fees (such as bank transfer fees, credit card processing fees or any other fees beyond iyou's control). *If a booking needs to be canceled from the system and refunded, a handling fee of 3% will be deducted.
3.2 All charges are in Icelandic Krona (ISK). Rates in other currencies can be viewed on the iyou.is website, but these are for information purposes only. As the exchange rate is not updated daily, the prices shown on the website may differ slightly from the actual prices at the time of your booking.
- Trip Cancellation and Refund
4.1 Confirmation of cancellation must be sent in writing to iyou - send an email to iyou@iyou.is. To be valid, the request must be confirmed by iyou.
4.2 Day Trip Cancellation You may cancel your trip up to 24 hours prior to the departure time of your trip and receive a full refund, subject to a non-refundable credit card processing fee of 3%.
No refunds will be given if you request a cancellation less than 24 hours before your trip departure time. This includes reservations made less than 48 hours prior to departure time.
4.3 Customized Tours, Multi-Day Tours Cancellation You may cancel up to 72 hours prior to your departure time and receive a refund of 80% (less 20% for service and administration fees).
No refunds will be made if cancellation is requested less than 72 hours prior to tour departure time (0%).
4.4 If you are late for a tour, your seat on the tour is not guaranteed and cannot be refunded.
- iyouCompany changes or cancellations
5.1 iyou reserves the right to change or adjust the tour itinerary due to weather or road conditions.
5.2 The itinerary may be changed or canceled at any time in order to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. In the event that a trip is canceled, iyou will provide an alternative (another trip).
5.3 If a tour or activity is canceled by the operator, the customer has the right to:

5.4 Northern Lights Tour Disclaimer
5.4.1 These tours are subject to weather conditions and there is no guarantee of sightings for such natural phenomena.
5.4.2 We reserve the right to cancel the trip in the event of bad weather.
5.4.3 A full refund will be made if the tour is not operated at all during the visitor's stay.
5.4.4 If the Customer does not see the Aurora Borealis after attending the Aurora Borealis Tour for the first time, the ticket (with the same booking number) can be used to attend our Aurora Borealis Tour experience again on the next available date of the tour; this ticket/booking number is for the sole use of the original ticket holder, is not transferable for use by anyone else, and is valid for a period of 2 weeks from the date of the first attempt.
5.4.5 If the Northern Lights are not seen during the tour, the private Northern Lights tour will not be entitled to a second free trial tour.
- shuttle service
6.1 During the booking process, you may be required to select a pick-up location and departure time. If you do not arrive on time at the scheduled pick-up location (as shown on your booking form), your booking will not be refunded.
6.2 If you do not know the pick-up location at the time of booking, you can add (or change) the pick-up location up to 24 hours prior to the departure of your trip. Please send an email to iyou@iyou.is with your pick-up location. iyou will not be responsible if you miss your trip because our customer service team has not received your pick-up location 24 hours prior to departure.
- Single room surcharge
7.1 A single room surcharge must be paid for multi-day tours. If you are booking a multi-day tour for one person only, you must pay a single room surcharge in order to get a single room in the hotel where the group is staying.
7.2 If you are staying in different rooms, a separate additional charge will be made for each room.
- Prices and currencies
8.1 All prices for services offered by iyou are in Icelandic Krona (ISK), the company's local currency. As a local Icelandic travel agency, iyou is not responsible for exchange rate fluctuations and/or additional costs that may be incurred (e.g. bank transfer fees, credit card processing fees, etc.).
- Special Offers and Promotional Codes
9.1 Please note that offers (e.g. promotional codes) cannot be applied retroactively to completed bookings, nor can they be used to apply for refunds after a purchase has been made. Promotional codes and/or offers, if any, must be entered in the designated field on the payment page at the time of booking in order to be valid.
9.2 All discounts, including promotional codes and early bird discounts, apply to tour prices only. Discounts are not available for extra items, add-ons.
9.3 Promotional codes and special offers are not retroactive. Discounts are not available after the start or end of the trip or during the cancellation period before the departure of the trip.
- Customer Responsibility
10.1 By booking iyou's activities, you accept the risks involved in such trips and accept that there is a degree of flexibility in traveling when visiting remote mountain areas.
10.2 The itinerary described in the tour booklet is for information purposes only and does not guarantee that a particular route will be followed or a particular place reached.
10.3 You must recognize that delays, changes and their consequences (e.g. inconvenience and discomfort) may occur in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
The tour durations shown in our itineraries are estimates only: in the event that the itinerary is slightly extended due to unforeseen circumstances, iyou cannot be held responsible for any impact that such circumstances may have on your travel plans. We do not recommend our clients to book flights or other means of transportation on the day of the start/end of their trip.
10.4 You must have a level of fitness commensurate with the tour you have chosen and it is your responsibility to carry suitable equipment.
- Personal travel insurance
11.1 Personal travel insurance is not included in the quoted price.
11.2 Clients are advised to take out travel insurance to cater for unforeseen circumstances, including compensation for medical expenses and cancellation charges.
11.3 In the event of emergency medical assistance and/or repatriation in any way while traveling, the responsibility for such costs will be borne by the Client.
11.4 All baggage and personal effects are always at your own risk. We are not responsible for any loss or damage to your baggage and/or personal effects/clothing.
- Right to cancel the trip or transfer to a partner carrier
12.1 iyou reserves the right to cancel a tour if the number of passengers on the tour does not reach four (4) within 24 hours prior to the departure time.
12.2 If the tour is not booked for 4 persons within 24 hours prior to departure, iyou will negotiate with you to transfer your booking to a partner operator. The tour length will be similar to the original itinerary and visit most of the same sights.
- Medical and dietary situation
13.1 If you have a medical condition that may affect your or anyone else's enjoyment of the trip, you must tell us at the time of booking.
13.2 iyou reserves the right to refuse service to customers who may be unsuitable to participate in the trip/activity.
13.3 Customers under the influence of alcohol or other substances will be banned from the tour/activity.
- Our liability and compensation
14.1 iyou will be liable for the negligence of its employees (which may cause direct bodily harm to the Passenger) to the extent provided by Icelandic law.
14.2 iyou shall not be liable to you for any accident to yourself or your property, in particular for the consequences of canceled flights, vehicular accidents, strikes, sickness, governmental, customs, police intervention or other events constituting force majeure.
14.3 By confirming your booking with iyou, you acknowledge that we have taken all reasonable steps to safeguard our responsibilities in this regard.
- prefecture
15.1 The Client and viplx ehf. hereby accept the area of Reykjavik, Iceland, where the Services are provided, as the appropriate place of legal jurisdiction.
15.2 Icelandic law shall apply to any legal issues arising between the parties.
- lost and found items
If necessary, a “service fee” of 7,000 Icelandic kroner will be charged for arranging the delivery of lost and found items.
This fee does not include shipping costs (we will choose a trackable shipping method so that you can check the shipping status). Please note: We are not responsible for any unforeseen circumstances that may occur during the shipping process after successful delivery.
